We know you want a great deal and great service. We have two ways to make your sailing more affordable. Sound Sailing Center (the largest sailing school and shared use club on the Long Island Sound) has teamed up with other great sailing organizations to offer the V Fleet for your use as a yearly member, allowing you to use the V14 where you want, when you want.
For purchasers, we intend to offer a different and better kind of buying experience, starting with upfront pricing. Note that the normal dealer margin on a new Yacht is 20% plus factory payments to cover finance costs or special incentives, giving a typical margin around 22-23%. A dealer has to provide a lot of extra support over the 10% commission on selling a used boat, which is why many dealers get 80% or more of their revenue from selling used boats or have given up selling new boats. Many dealers take large risks in keeping inventory.
At Sound Sailing Center, we buy from the Factory, and mark new boats up 3% to cover our costs for providing US based support. Our Agents or dealers who sell the yacht to you work on 15%, and do not stock inventory boats, although demonstrators are sometimes made available. Note that US Prices include the cost of modifying the yachts for US use, including upgraded wiring, US Customs clearance and duties, shipping from the factory to the US Port, 110 volt shore power, US Spec propane systems, an upgraded mast (we use Selden Masts instead of Z Spar Masts on the US Boats), and some upgrades to the standard interior. Because of our lower margins, we do not take trade in's at inflated prices or offer any special deals besides what the factory may occasionally pass on to us. In fact, we expect to earn much of our revenue by providing interesting upgrades you can add your yacht down the road and from our membership program.
